The Roots of Authenticity
For over a decade, Tharavadu has stood proudly as the best Indian restaurant in Leeds, introducing the city to the true flavours of Kerala. From day one, our guiding principle has been “pure devotion to quality and authenticity.” That foundation remains unchanged, but our story has never been static.
As our reputation grew — from a local treasure to a nationally celebrated restaurant — we began to hear the same request over and over: “When are you expanding?”
The answer was not about ambition alone, but about community. Our growth has always been a response to demand, driven by the people who made Tharavadu what it is today.
Why Leeds, Not Another City?
When the time came to expand, some people asked: “Why not London, Manchester, or Birmingham?” The truth is simple: Leeds is our home.
As founder Siby Jose explains:
“As Leeds is our hometown, we are deeply committed to staying local.”
We know the heartbeat of this city better than anywhere else. The people of Leeds gave Tharavadu its identity. It was only right that we give something new back to them.
Introducing Uyare – The Next Chapter
The result of this evolution is Uyare, our bold new concept that takes Indian dining in Leeds to another level. If Tharavadu was a revolution, Uyare is a culinary landmark.
Here’s how it transforms the dining experience:
Staying True to Our Roots
Expansion often risks losing authenticity. But at Uyare, just like at Tharavadu, every dish tells the story of Kerala. From spiced seafood curries to vegetarian Sadya-style platters, we continue to serve the flavours that made us who we are.
The difference? Uyare gives us the freedom to present those flavours in new, modern ways — small plates, rooftop dining, and cocktail pairings — without ever compromising authenticity.
From Local Eatery to National Destination
Today, people travel from across the UK to dine with us. What started as a beloved Leeds eatery is now a national culinary destination. And yet, the essence remains unchanged: we are still the same Leeds boys, cooking from the heart, for our community.
